Sale Shopping Haul - New Look

Hiya! It's another fashion post for you all!

Here in the UK as some of you may know it's been rather warm and sunny recently, which means I'm not going to be wanting to wear anything thick or heavy. When I went shopping after my birthday I went to New Look and realised there was a sale on, however I only found a couple of things I liked (which were in my last outfit post). I normally find loads in New Look that I like so I thought I'd take a look at the Sale online, and to my surprise as I don't normally shop online I found rather a lot I liked!

In the end I spent £49 on clothes from their site, but I thought seen as it had been my birthday why not use the money I got to treat myself! So here are some of the summery pieces I got and for very good prices I think!

Brought for £6!

Liebster Award!

Hello wonderful people!

It's a blogpost on a Tuesday, bit of a late one for some people but it's also rather unexpected! I got nominated for a Liebster Award, which I was pleasantly surprised about considering I haven't really been fully blogging for too long, but I love it already! Blogging is so much fun and gives me something to do over the summer!

So here we go!

Kindle Paperwhite Review

Hi, Hey, Hello!

If you've read my previous blog post you'll know I recently got a Kindle Paperwhite for my birthday! I've been wanting a Kindle or E-reader for a while now because I love reading but recently I really haven't been reading as much as I could just because I don't want to go out and buy a load of expensive books, because if you're like me I'm sure you prefer your own book rather than borrowing from a library. But don't get me wrong library's are great, I just can't remember the last time I actually borrowed a book from one...oops.

Anyway I'm sure there's some of you thinking why not just go out and buy the books rather than getting an expensive Kindle to read them on which isn't technically a book. And yes I totally agree it was strange at first reading from a piece of technology rather than a real book and you don't quite get the same feel as a real book, but I have really enjoyed it because there really are some advantages to a Kindle!

18th Birthday!

Hello!

Last Tuesday it was my 18th Birthday, so I thought I'd share some photo's with you all and tell you what I did. I'm not going to list and show you everything I got because I don't want to brag and you can see some of the little nic nacs yourself.

Going through to the lounge on my birthday morning was a bit of a surprise, as you can see there was many balloons and bits spread across the fireplace. Other than the pieces of jewellery I got, which I'm not going to go into detail about but I absolutely loved, I also got a kindle paperwhite, which ever since my birthday I have been glued to! And on that note I will do a blog post reviewing my kindle because I would seriously recommend it.

As you can see from the photo's below I had a bit of a butterfly theme going on, but other than that there was lots of little things that I can use and enjoy. Now as I don't want to ramble too much about the stuff I got, I'll tell you what I did for the big celebrations instead! Keep reading to find out!

A Single Outfit can make a difference!

Hello Beautiful People!

I have a new blog post up once again, hooray! This is actually a completely spontaneous blog post that I really wasn't expecting to do today, but I thought while I'm in the mood, while I have the idea in my head why not?

So basically this is an OOTD blog post, but the reason I've called it what I have and the reason I have added so many photo's like I have is because I want to tell you how much an outfit really can make a difference.

Recently I've been spending quite a bit of time at home doing things around the house and just relaxing and reading after my birthday! (Which by the way I have an exciting post on the way about that!) But because it's been my birthday I've been out and brought a few pieces of clothing and had to come up with different outfits which are actually socially acceptable to wear out and about.

And that's where the post title comes in, I find that putting and outfit together in the right way can really make a difference! I say this from my opinion because with all this hot weather here in the UK I've been wearing shorts and a top post of the time not bothering as much about what I wear. But when I had this Saturday off I went and brought myself a skirt, now I don't often wear skirts because I didn't think they suited me and made me look too posh. But looking at this outfit and the one I wore on Sunday (look on my instagram for that!) I think I still look casual and I feel really confident in the outfit.

That's what I want to say really, wear something that makes you feel good, something you think you look good in! I never used to like the figure hugging skirts but this just works with a slightly loose plain top, so why not try it for yourself! Confidence is what you make of it!

Degree Show!

It's Friday again! A few weeks ago this would have made a huge difference to me, the last day of the week, you can come home and just relax because the next 2 days are the weekend. At the moment because it's now summer for me, no day seems that different. I always feel it's only summer when you forget what day it is, haha.

Anyway I'm taking you all back to Monday (the day your supposed to hate) because I went and visited the Norwich Arts University Degree Show, where I hope to be going to uni to in a few months time and found some amazing creations so I thought I'd share with you some of my favourite pieces!

This display was one of my favourites, I'd seen something like this before working with a more 3D foamy effect under the fabric and really loved it but this was one step further with all the added detail. I love the colours she chose as well, I find something like this really inspiring because it almost shows you anything can be done if you try hard.

I loved seeing this piece as she had created something around buildings, and I had recently creating a piece with buildings in Norwich for my A Level final piece. It really made me think how so many people can do the same theme but come out with completely different effects!

The scale that some of the work and samples went to!

Large fabrics created with small designs, I love how good this person is at drawing animals!

This piece really captured my eye, I love the bright colours and the abstract look you can see from it! I can't wait to be able to experiment and hopefully come up with something as bright and crazy as this. That's what I'm really looking forward to, being able to experiment and try things I've never had the chance to do before.

This was super cute, it looks so homely and I really want my room to look something like this. Somewhere you can just relax but look really nice, simple and free!

As you can tell I was mainly looking at textile work because that's what I want to do (if you couldn't tell from previous blog posts, haha) but I looked at some of the fine art, fashion and photography work too. I didn't take many photos of them but here's some of the pieces I liked and the unusual fashion students work below.

When I was looking around at uni's last year I spent so much time looking at photography and textiles because I didn't know what to do. But now I've chosen textiles I hope I can take photography on as a hobby and maybe involve it in my work too!

Little detour off the Degree Show I just thought I'd share with you where I went that evening because we spent quite a long time in Norwich that evening we thought why not grab a bite to eat?

If you haven't guessed already we went to an Italian, Jamie's Italian in fact, which I think is the best Italian I have been too in the UK so far. I don't suppose it compares to anywhere in Italy but it was still very nice and worth a try if you haven' t been! Lucky for us there was a £5 pasta deal on that night and throughout July, so go take a trip to Jamie's while you can if you haven't been I'd say!

That's it! My day to the degree show and a little meal to finish, one day I'll remember to actually photograph the food I had to I can really share it with you all!

Thanks for reading!

Trip to the 'Movies' and The Lanes!

I've made it to my Wednesday blog post! I'd say that's an achievement!

But before I get into this blog post I'd just like to say I didn't take any of the photo's below myself because forgetful like I am I forgot to take pictures of the day(s) for my blog! Sad I know, but you've still got my lovely writing to enjoy.

22 Jump Street

Unbelievably it was a week ago now since I went to see 22 Jump Street at the cinema. If your anything like me you either go to the cinema really often or never. At the moment as you will see the cinema seems to be quite a frequent trip at the moment, but who can you blame when there's always so many films released in the summer! That does confuse my slightly though, why release films when it's sunny? Anyone else think there should be outside cinemas?

Anyway back to the point, 22 Jump Street is a great film that if you want to have a laugh and you've seen the first one you will really enjoy! I hadn't seen the first one til about a week before, but if you haven't seen it and you want to see 22 Jump Street make sure you see the first one, it will make a lot more sense then!

Going to the cinema that day was all I did, but I then when out again on the Sunday just gone. Originally my friend and I thought we'd just go to the cinema because we hadn't spoken in a while but when I realised the Lanes Summer Fayre was on in Norwich, the closest city to where I live, I suggested we go have a look at that too!

I went there last year and the beautiful lanes of Norwich, like in the photo below was completely full with crafts, food, music and entertainment. I have to say last year when I went it was very hot and sunny so it was great, unfortunately this year though it was a bit rainy when we arrived in Norwich so we went to the cinema first then the lanes.

I have to say there wasn't as much going on as the previous year but it was still very enjoyable with all the little trinkets and people buzzing about. I think if the day was a lot nicer there would be a lot more people, but it still good and it would be nice to go again next year!

Luckily it's also near the University I intend to go to in September, so hopefully I know my way round the lanes a lot better then too!

The Lanes when it's not the fayre!

This time I want to go see The Fault in Our Stars, something that everyone has been buzzing about recently and told me I had to see, so that's what I did! If you haven't seen the film I really suggest you do, it's such a touching film that you can almost learn something from, but unlike most people I didn't cry...I honestly did love the film though, I just didn't get as touched by it as some films.

I don't want to go into too much detail about what I did during the day because it get's to the point where it's a little boring, but we also went to Bella Italia which was very nice and I had the classic Lasagna that you have to have when you go to an Italian!

So that's it! Hopefully my next post should be up on Friday, and just little hint to the post if you like art and creations, I think you'll like the post!

Thanks for reading!

It's Been Sunny!

Hello hello hello! I am back and I have plans for my blog so I'm hoping at least over the next 2 weeks I can post every Monday, Wednesday and Friday! But no promises because I know
plans don't always happen quite how you wanted them somehow...

But anyway, on with the show!

If you've been in the UK recently you'll know just as well as I do that it has been rather warm and sunny which means I've been able to sit outside! Not only does this mean I've got a bit of a tan coming on (come one everyone loves to sit in the sun just to get a bit of tan!) I have been able to sit and relax and do a few things! So this is just what I like to do while it's sunny!

Look at that Sun though!

So as some of you may know if you've been reading my blog from the very beginning I love to be creative especially with textiles, but also over the next month or so I know quite a few people who are turning 18! (Including myself! Excited is an understatement!) Therefore I thought what's more productive to do with my time than to make some hand sewn cards.

Initially when I started this I had no idea where I was going with it but now I'm hoping to make some cards for my friends and if I have time I might start experimenting and making other cards maybe for people, maybe just to keep for an emergency card when you accidentally forget it's someones birthday. I try not to do that though, honest!

Or if I really get into it I could sell a few, but I don't want to get my hopes up, I tried making cards over the last few years thinking there amazing but I never got anywhere with them. Anyone else have that box of stuff which you intended would have a purpose and til this day it still doesn't? Yeah that's my box of card making things!

When I'm not doing sewing I like to just relax in the sun so I've been doing a bit of reading to! I do love a bit of reading, I think everyone does when they really like a book just no one bothers or wants to let their little fetish for reading out!

Believe it or not I've read this book about 3/4 times now but I just love reading a good story! I've read all of the My Diary Liz Rettig series but I have to say this is one of the best ones I think! I wish there was a follow on from this book though, hate when series come to an end!

You may think this seems a bit of a younger teen book but it's actually about people my age so it's very easy to relate to! I want to get into reading some more but books sometimes can be so expensive and I honestly can't remember the last time I stepped foot in a library! I do miss getting too many books out though and never being able to read them all, and that's when I had all the time in the world to read!

I would love to get a kindle so I could just sit and read all day! I have asked for one for my birthday but again I don't want to get my hopes up! Now I think about it I don't think that's one of the usual items someone would ask for for an 18th birthday, but that's me I suppose! Everyone's different.

Sometimes however I do prefer a bit of lighter reading and keeping up with all the fashion and celebrity gossip, so I buy LOOK magazine every week. It's a great magazine and there's always something interesting to read inside. I can't really say much about a magazine but I have to say I prefer reading this to something like ELLE for example, there's a lot less ad's and more to read and look at!

So I guess that's it for this Monday! Hopefully I have plan's for post's this Wednesday and Friday so I look forward to writing something else for you to read!

Thanks for reading!

Sorry...

Hello! to anyone who reads my blog.

I would just like to say a short post saying sorry I haven't posted for the last week but I haven't come across anything new and interesting to post for you to read without it being to boring or more or less the same as my previous posts.

However in the next coming weeks I should find more to post because my birthday is soon on the way and hopefully I'll have lots of interesting things to post for you to read and enjoy.

But for now, thanks for reading my blog I really appreciate it!
